I have a conner tech. 4.35 gb hard disk drive. i had to install certain vga drivers on my computer and for that. i had to restart the PC. as soon as i restarted , windows did not load. after thourough checking, i have found out that my computer detects the hard disk, but doesnt seem to detect the c drive, . after booting it with win98 bootable disk, i could not run "fdisk" because i got a message that windows could not read the fixed disk. help!!

Try running the "Add New Hardware Wizard" to see if it will 're-find' the C drive.

John:
I had a similar problem with the VHOOP3**** series of the Fujitsu 10.2 gig hard drives.

The drive would either stop dead in the middle of work or die on boot up.

Any machine's bios would see the drive, but could not be accessed.

I have a feeling your drive is dead.

Get a new cable. (Who knows?)

#1: Remove all atapi devices (other drives and roms)
#2: set drive as master on primary ide.
boot, set up in bios and try to access.

if no go retry as slave on primary
master on secondary
slave on secondary.

Try a different drive.

if this drive works. Then it is a good indication your conner is a nice paper weight.
