I've been using IE6 for a long time with no trouble. But recently, when I enter a URL in IE6, the page will open fine, but then when I click on additional links within a page, IE tries to open a new window, but only a transparent frame appears, and the little hour-glass stays indefinitely - the new page will never open. This has nothing to do with any particular site, since I have no problems accessing any page or link from my other computer.

I've tried clicking on IE6 in the Control Panel Add/Remove section and choosing "Repair" - no change.
I've also installed the IE6 Service Pack 1, but that didn't solve the problem either.

Dear Mr. Shellem,

There is a conflict in Windows 95/98 with Internet Explorer 6 that has not yet been fixed by Microsoft. This conflict also involves Office 2000 and its componants such as Word, Excel, Access, etc.

I have experienced the same problem with my PC. The following steps should resolve your problem:

1. Uninstall Office 2000 and any componants of it.
2. Uninstall Internet Explorer 6 from your PC to revert to the origional Internet Explorer.
3. Re-Install Internet Explorer 6, including all componants from the options menu.
4. Re-install Office 2000.

If this fails to resolve the problem, try these steps to correct the issue:

1. Goto Start > Run > Type: sfc
2. Select Extract one file from installation disk.
3. Enter: mshtml.dll
4. Click start. SFC will inform you it needs to reboot to finish installation, allow it to do so.

You may then find that your Internet Explorer installation will work correctly.

Hope this helps.
