Asked on 30/5/2007, 15:36
I noticed whilst I was using the computer the list of recently used programs on the start menu disappeared.
I don't know why, one minute it was there and suddenly it was gone. Instead there is just a big space beneath my Internet & Email shortcuts.

Thanks very much,

Eli

Hi - there are a few possible fixes which you can try and might help

Firstly, right click the Start button, now clickProperties, next Customize. Under this window click the General tab and under Programs look at the Number of programs on Start field - if this setting is too low (i.e. zero) then increase it.

If this number is not zero, then I suggest changing it to zero, click on Clear List, then ok. At this point, reboot. After this, reboot then go back to the menu and increase the number of programs to a sensible number - hopefully this approach should reset the counting system.

In researching your problem and the solution there is an interesting link on the MS website http://windowsxp.mvps.org/startmfu.htm which is worth a look if the above does not work
